Patented PHI Technology:Photohydroionization® or PHI is a patented Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) technology designed for HVAC installations. The PHI-CELL® technology is a proven technology with over 4 million units in use worldwide. As used in multiple products, its active air purification disperses airborne gaseous hydrogen peroxide throughout your living and working spaces, reducing viruses, bacteria, mold spores and odors at the source. As Mother Nature’s chosen sanitizer, hydrogen peroxide is incredibly effective at reducing these contaminants in your home or office, just as it is outside. Test Results: RGF® first developed its Photohydroionization® (PHI-CELL®) technology over 20 years ago and since then more than four million units have been installed worldwide. Over the years the PHI-Cell evolved into the REME-HALO® and now the widely popular HALO-LED™. RGF® has licensed its technology to many Fortune 500 companies for use in health care, food processing, military, government, marine, hospitality, residential and commercial applications.
In addition, RGF®’s PHI-Cell technology has been specified in the Norovirus and MRSA protection plan of America’s largest restaurant chains, hotel chains, theme parks, cruise lines and public school. Below you will find a summary of some of the testing and studies performed by third party independent labs and universities. While the research is compelling, RGF® PHI-Cell products are not medical devices and no medical claims are made. Virus Test results pdf booklet: https://rgf.com/test-results/
How it works:The inventors in our research and development department are constantly studying the environment and the science behind naturally occurring processes. The adage that sunlight is a great disinfectant is true in several ways: its ability to create hydrogen peroxide and release it into the air and the UV properties of sunlight help eliminate microorganisms outside. So, the question arose as to how we could replicate and enhance these naturally occurring air purification processes in an indoor environment. This is how the REME-HALO® was born. It is powered by RGF’s proprietary REME® technology, which combines a UVC light on an advanced catalyst to create low concentrations of gaseous hydrogen peroxide in the air that disperses throughout your space. As Mother Nature’s chosen sanitizer, hydrogen peroxide is incredibly effective at reducing viruses, bacteria, mold spores, odors, VOCs, and other microbes in the air and on surfaces in your home. Why it matters:The indoor air quality in your home or office can be five times more polluted than the outdoor air, primarily because indoor air is not properly sanitized. There are added contaminants that are simply not filtered out of the air or removed from surfaces, but instead, accumulate again over time. This happens because bacteria, viruses, mold spores, and other toxins are too small to be stopped by traditional air filters, and some can even pass through a HEPA filter.
So, since you spend up to 90% of your time indoors, it’s important to consider the impact these pollutants can have on your long-term health. When you install a REME-HALO®, you will notice the difference in the quality and freshness of the air you breathe and wonder why you did not take this simple measure sooner.
Minimizing your Chances for Food Contamination:Diseases caused by contaminated food constitute one of the most widespread health problems and are an important cause of reduced economic productivity.
How can poor indoor air quality put your health at risk ? Breathing fresh air protects your health and improves almost every minute of every day. An air purification system from RGF® uses the best technology to give you the best air – without the use of harmful chemicals.
Between our homes and offices, we spend much more time indoors. Unlike outdoor air pollution, nature cannot purify the air inside your building, so we have to give it a little help.
Bad air is bad for your health. The American College of Allergists says that 50% of illnesses are caused or made worse by polluted indoor air. RGF®‘s REME® and PHI-CELL® technologies reduce pollutants and microbes in the air and on surfaces throughout your indoor environment. With RGF® you have the peace of mind that you are providing the best possible air for your family, employees and customers.

FISH PROCESSING CASE STUDY / Alpha Processing, Port Hardy B.C.
SITUATION Farm raised Atlantic salmon. Also processed fish from other sources. Produces 20,000 tons per year. Producing 60-70,000 gallons of wastewater per day with high levels of blood and fecal matter. Local sewer plant will not accept the water. Must discharge to the ocean. Salmon fingerlings are grown in ocean pens within 2 miles of wastewater disposal site.
PROBLEMS National and local regulations severely restrict use of chlorine in ocean waste disposal. Concern about bacteria in waste stream contaminating fish growing areas and killing product. Total bacteria plate count averages 12,500 CFU.
SOLUTIONS Design multi-stage treatment system. Incorporate screen type filter for large particulate. Incorporate aeration float system to remove suspended solids. Apply ozone and ultra-violet for final product water sanitation (Advanced Oxidation).
RESULTS Eliminated chlorine from waste stream treatment. Removed solids from waste stream. Reduced total plate count to 252 CFU (98%). Conformed to local and national regulations. Reduced exposure of contamination to fish growing areas.
Helpful FAQs What is RGF’s Advanced Oxidation Sanitation Program? RGF has developed a three step program of advanced oxidation technologies for food sanitation involving air, water and surface sanitation processes. What oxidizers are used in the RGF Program? Depending on the application, RGF utilizes Photohydroionization®, ozone, super oxide ions, UVC light rays and hydroxyl radicals.
What is Photohydroionization®? Photohydroionization® (PHI) is an RGF patented technology for air and surface sanitation utilizing non-penetrating ionizing broad spectrum UV radiation targeted on a quad metallic catalyst. The process results in multiple oxidizers, including hydro-peroxides (H2O2). Is it safe for employees to work in rooms treated with PHI? Yes, the hydro-peroxides are considered friendly oxidizers, which means they revert back to oxygen and hydrogen. The low levels that are used present no risk to employees. What is the major difference between food irradiation and food Photohydroionization®? Food irradiation utilizes penetrating radiation, which sanitizes throughout the meat or poultry. Food Photohydroionization® basically provides the same level of sanitation, but only on the food surface. It is not penetrating; however, most microbial or bacterial contamination is on the surface. What are the advantages of Photohydroionization®? The food is not irradiated with penetrating radiation. As such, it does not have to be labeled with the radiation symbol, which carries with it a negative stigma. Does RGF have a technology to destroy pathogens in process liquids such as brine and marinades? Yes, RGF manufactures a line of fluid sterilizers utilizing high output UVC energy. These are available in multiple flow rates. I’ve heard of the term “Advanced Oxidation Process” What is it? Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) refers to increasing the reactivity of oxidizers. This is performed by combining multiple oxidizers to react via a free radical pathway. These are three methods commonly used to attain AOP: 1. Hydrogen Peroxide (O3 + H2O2) 2. Ultraviolet Radiation (O3 + UV) 3. H2O2 + UV Is AOP effective? Many molecules that are resistant to one oxidizer alone are degraded by this free radical process. AOP is used most often to control organics (taste, odor, color, THM precursors, micro pollutants and pesticides). This is not to say that AOP is required for oxidation of organics, but in some instances it may be preferred. Will food last longer if it exposed to PHI? Yes, PHI will kill airborne and surface bacteria, fungus and mold spores, thereby eliminating the largest reason for food spoilage.
